Sea Trials Transit

Daily Science Report for 2 March 2009

LOCATION: In transit to Honolulu, Hawaii

SCIENCE UPDATE: The superconducting rock magnetometer (SRM) is finally fully functional and paleomagnetic properties of Hole U1330B archive halves could be determined. The Readiness Assessment Team is busy with finishing assessment reports. Writing of the Preliminary Report is nearly completed. Intensive laboratory cleaning started this morning and continued during the day. The few last acceptance testing activities are ongoing and port call and crossover preparations are ramping up.

The Imaging Specialist is responsible for close-up images, images taken for public relations purposes, and the maintenance of microscopes and the imaging logger.
