Sea Trials Transit

Daily Science Report for 8 February 2009

LOCATION: In Guam

SCIENCE UPDATE: Introductory presentations for the Readiness Assessment Committee continued through out the day. Presentations include introductions to the vessel capabilities, wireline logging capabilities, operations plan and communications. Pre-acceptance and acceptance testing activities continued with more instrumentation and software applications becoming available for testing.

Ship highlight of the day: Core Splitting & Sampling

    

The core is split into archive and working halves using a newly designed splitter. The doors can be closed to isolate the room and reduce noise in adjacent labs. The core splitting area was enlarged by 77%.
